Bhavanipuram is a lively part of Vijayawada and that’s where you’ll find Om Vinayaka General Stores. I’ve been working here for quite a while now, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. We open up pretty early because people around here like to get their shopping done before the heat of the day really kicks in. The shop is filled with all the usual stuff like detergents, rice, oils, and snacks. I try to keep things in some kind of order, but when the deliveries come in, it usually ends up looking like a bit of a mess for a few hours. The humidity in Vijayawada can be tough, so I usually have a small fan pointed right at the counter where I sit. Most of the customers are families from the local streets who have been coming here since I first opened the doors. We don't have any fancy computers for billing, just a calculator and a pen, which works just fine for us. Sometimes people stay for a bit of a talk while I’m bagging their items. It’s a good community here in Bhavanipuram. I spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates on things and making sure I haven't run out of the basics. It’s just a regular local shop, nothing more and nothing less, just trying to provide what the neighborhood needs every day.
