You can find us at Shop No 370 A on the ground floor of the Mgwsc Complex in Gollapudi. Vijayawada is a busy place, and being in Mahendra Nagar means there’s always something happening around the complex. We specialize in dhalls and general merchandise. I spend a lot of time looking at different types of pulses, making sure they are clean and good for the customers. The air in the shop usually smells a bit like earth and dried beans. It’s a large space compared to some of the other shops in the complex, but we fill it up quickly with big jute bags. My back usually aches from hauling those bags around, even though I try to be careful. The floor is concrete and it stays relatively cool even when it’s boiling outside. I’ve been doing this for a while now, and I can tell the quality of a grain just by feeling it. We get a lot of regular customers who come from all over Gollapudi because they know we have what they need for their kitchens. I don't use a lot of fancy technology; a simple calculator and a ledger are enough for me. It’s a straightforward business. I show up, open the shutters, and spend the day talking to people and selling dhall. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s a good one.
