M/S Nagalakshmi General Stores

Running a store in Jaihind Market means there is never a quiet moment. We are located at 11/54/46/A on Gulab Chand Street, which is a very active part of Vijayawada. Every morning starts with opening up the shutters and sweeping out the dust that gathers overnight. We stock a lot of different things, so our shelves are always packed tight. Sometimes it’s hard to find where we put a specific item, but we usually remember after a minute or two. The market is full of other shops, and we’ve known our neighbors for years. We often share tea in the afternoons when the crowd thins out a bit. It’s not a glamorous job, mostly just counting items and writing things down in our ledgers. We deal with all sorts of people, from regular families to other shopkeepers looking for wholesale bits. The street gets very congested with scooters and delivery carts, making it a challenge to unload new stock. We try to keep things organized, but in a small space like this, it’s a constant battle. Rain can be a problem too, as the street floods sometimes, but we just put up the boards and carry on. It’s a basic life, but it keeps us busy from morning until late at night. We don’t have any big slogans or anything, just the goods on the shelf and the price on the tag.
