Kishore Fancy & General Stores

At Kishore Fancy & General Stores, things are a bit different than your average grocery shop. We are located right on the Main Road in Nujividu, and the Vijayawada heat can be something else during the summer months. Being in the 520001 area, we get a mix of people looking for daily essentials and others looking for "fancy" items like hair clips, bangles, or small gifts. I started this place because I noticed people had to travel too far just to get simple decorative things or good quality stationery. The shelves are a bit crowded because I try to stock a little bit of everything. You’ll find ribbons and threads right next to the toothbrushes and talcum powder. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once, but we make it work. The Main Road is always buzzing with motorcycles and buses, so there’s a constant layer of dust I have to wipe off the display cases every few hours. I don’t use any computer for the billing; I still prefer my old notebook and a pen. It feels more real that way. Sometimes people come in just to ask for directions since we are in such a visible spot. We don't mind. It’s just part of being a local shop owner in a busy place like Vijayawada. We stay open late because that's when the fancy lights look best.
