Kasi General Shop

The shop is on the ground floor at 62-22-3, right on Bagaiah Street. If you’re walking down Panatakaluva Road in Patamata, you’ll see us easily enough. It’s a general shop, so we have a bit of everything crammed onto the shelves. From soap to snacks to basic household items, we try to keep what people in the neighborhood actually need. It’s not a supermarket where everything is perfectly lined up. Sometimes things get a bit jumbled, and you have to ask me where something is. I spend a lot of time sitting behind the counter, talking to the locals who come in for their daily milk or some tea leaves. The fan overhead has a bit of a wobble, but it keeps the air moving during those hot Patamata afternoons. I’ve lived around here for years, so I know most of the families by name. We get the morning rush when people are heading to work, and then it’s quieter until the kids come by after school looking for sweets. I keep a ledger for the regulars, and we do things the old-fashioned way mostly. It’s a small life, but I like being my own boss and seeing my neighbors every day. The street can get a bit muddy when it rains, so I’m always mopping the floor to keep the shop looking decent. It’s just a simple shop for regular folks.
