Kalyani Fancy & General Stores

Kalyani Fancy & General Stores is located at 6-21-16 in Kothapet, Vijayawada. We are right opposite the IBP petrol bunk, which is a very busy spot. This is a fancy store, so we carry things like bangles, hair pins, and small gifts, but we also have general items for the kitchen. It’s a bit of a hodgepodge of stuff. The shop is in a busy part of town, so there is always the sound of horns and engines outside. We have been here for a long time and the building itself is quite old. Inside, we have glass cases for the jewelry and fancy items so they don't get dusty. The general items are stacked behind the counter on deep shelves. In Vijayawada, it gets incredibly hot, so we have a couple of old fans that hum all day long. We don't really do any marketing; people just see us when they are filling up petrol across the street. My wife often helps out with the fancy goods side of things because she knows more about the latest trends in bangles. We have a small stool for customers to sit on if they are picking out many items. It’s a simple business and we like it that way. Every evening we tidy up the shelves and make a list of what we need from the wholesale market for the next day. It is just a regular life.
