Kalepalli Ranga Rao & Sons Kirana General Store is right here on Bandar Road in Patamata. We’ve been at 58-1-17 for quite a while now. It’s a busy spot in Vijayawada, especially being so close to Ntr Circle. Most days start early for us. We open up the shutters, sweep the front, and start getting the bags of rice and dal ready. There’s always a lot of dust from the road, so cleaning is a constant job. People from around the neighborhood stop in for their daily needs. Sometimes it’s just a packet of milk or some soap, other times they need a whole list of things for the month. It gets pretty crowded in the evenings when everyone is heading home. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything. It’s just shelves filled with what people actually use every day. My sons help out when they can because there is a lot of heavy lifting with the gunny bags. We know most of the people who come in by their names. It’s just how things are in this part of town. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud you can’t hear what a customer is asking for, but we manage. We just keep things moving and try to make sure we have what people are looking for when they walk through the door. It’s a simple life running a shop here on Bandar Road, but it keeps us busy from morning till night. We hope to stay here for many more years.
