Hari General Stores

It’s been a long time since we first opened up here in Winchipet. If you walk down towards the Gandhi Statue, you’ll find us easily enough. We aren't doing anything fancy. It is just a regular shop where people from the neighborhood come to pick up their monthly rations or maybe just a packet of biscuits. Most mornings start early, sweeping the front and getting the milk crates organized before the sun gets too high. Vijayawada weather can be quite something, so the shade under our awning is a busy spot. We keep all the basic things like different types of dals, soaps, and those little packets of spices that everyone needs for cooking dinner. Sometimes the delivery trucks take forever to find the spot near the statue, but that is just how it goes in this part of town. I usually sit near the counter while my nephew helps with the heavier bags. We have some regular customers who have been coming here since they were kids, and now they bring their own children along. It is nice to see the familiar faces every day. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just the usual boards. Everything is stacked on the shelves wherever it fits best. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded inside when three or four people come at once, but we manage. It’s just a simple life running a store in a place like this.
