Andhra General Stores

Located on Sivalayam Street in Vijayawada, Andhra General Stores has been sitting near the Iron Center for quite some time. The area is known for being busy, and the humidity here can be really something else during the summer months. Our shop isn't air-conditioned, so we just keep the doors open and let the air move through as best it can. We sell all sorts of general items, from plastic buckets and brooms to small electronics like batteries and bulbs. It’s a bit of a mix of everything. The shelves are mostly metal and they've got some scratches from years of moving stock around. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or advertisements. People around here know we are here, and that seems to be enough for us. The Iron Center is a loud place with all the vehicles and the traders, so there's always a background hum of noise while we work. We spend a lot of our time just organizing the smaller items so they don't get lost in the back. Sometimes a customer comes in looking for something very specific, and we have to dig through the crates to find it. It's not a perfect system, but it works for us and the people who live nearby. We usually close up once the street starts to quiet down in the late evening, heading home to do it all again the next morning.
