Amarajalaiah Gaenral Stores

Our place, Amarajalaiah Gaenral Stores, sits at 29-9-57 on Nakkala Road here in Vijayawada. We are right on the stretch of Govinda Rajulu Nayudu Street, which stays busy most of the day. It is a hot part of the city, so we usually have the fan going full blast while we work. The shop is filled with bags of rice, pulses, and all the small things people run out of in their kitchens. We don't really do anything special, just keep the doors open from morning until late evening. Sometimes the delivery carts take up all the space on the sidewalk, and we have to help them move things inside quickly so the neighbors don't get annoyed. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool even when the sun is beating down on Nakkala Road. We have lots of glass jars on the shelves, some with snacks and others with spices. It can be a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are standing at the counter at the same time. The street noise is just part of the background now, we don't even notice the horns anymore. Being in this part of Vijayawada means we see a lot of different people every day. We just try to keep the stock replenished so nobody has to go elsewhere for their basic needs. It is hard work, especially when the crates are heavy.
