Kartik Cold Storage

Working at Kartik Cold Storage means getting used to the cold, obviously. We are located at 1308 in the GIDC area. It’s a busy industrial zone, so there are always vehicles moving around and people rushing. Inside the facility, things are kept at the right temperature which is a constant job. You have to keep an eye on the gauges all the time. If something sounds off with the machinery, we have to check it right away. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is necessary. We spend a lot of time in heavy coats, even when it’s boiling hot outside. The contrast is always a bit of a shock when you walk out for lunch. We have a small crew and we’ve all been here for a bit. We know the routine. Loading and unloading the trucks takes up most of the morning. You get to know the drivers who come by regularly. The GIDC is a dusty place, but our units stay clean because they have to. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or anything. The office is just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of logbooks. We keep track of everything that comes in and out by hand mostly. It’s a straightforward way to work. We just show up, do the shifts, and make sure the cooling stays steady. That’s about it for us here. We don't make a big fuss about it, we just keep the units running day and night to keep everything frozen.
