Out here at Plot No 601 in the G. I. D. C area, things are mostly industrial. Bhisti Exports has been operating from this warehouse space for some time now. It’s a big, open building with high ceilings and a lot of concrete. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but we have a few fans going to keep the air moving. We mostly deal with the logistics side of things, moving goods from one place to another. There’s always a truck backing in or pulling out of the gate. We don't have a front desk with a receptionist or anything like that. You just walk in and find someone near the loading bay. Most of our day is spent checking crates and making sure the labels match the manifests. It’s noisy work because of the nearby factories, but you get used to it after a week or two. We keep a small office in the corner for the computer and the files. It’s nothing like those corporate offices in the city center. We wear boots and work clothes because it’s a hands-on kind of job. We just try to get the containers filled and sent off on time without any mistakes. It’s basic, repetitive work, but it’s what we know how to do well enough to keep the doors open. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside until it comes back.
