Sri Selvavinayagar Leathers

Down on Coramandal Leather Road, you’ll find us at Sri Selvavinayagar Leathers. Our door is 475/5, which is quite near the Hdfc Bank in the Sipcot part of Ranipet. It’s a dusty road sometimes with all the trucks moving around, but that’s just how Sipcot is. We work with leather mostly. The smell of the hides is something you never really forget, but after working here for years, I don’t even notice it anymore. The bank is a good landmark because people always get lost looking for the specific plot numbers on this road. We spend a lot of time sorting through skins and checking for marks. It’s physical work, moving heavy stacks around. The machines for the leather are old but they still run okay if we keep them oiled. We don't have a big front office or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably just see someone in an apron covered in dust. Ranipet has a lot of places like ours, but we just focus on what’s on our own workbench. Sometimes the water supply is an issue, but we make do. We’ve got a steady group of workers who’ve been with us since we started at this location. It’s not an easy job, but it pays the bills and keeps the families around here going. We just stay busy and keep the gates open during the usual hours so we can get the tanning done.
