About Marhaba Leather Goods – Fashion & Trends in Vellore
Pernambut is a place famous for leather, and we are right in the middle of it on Aamina Street. Our number is 68/61. It’s a narrow street, very traditional. You can smell the leather as soon as you turn the corner. We’ve been working with leather for a long time. It’s what we know. We make various goods, mostly things people use every day like bags or wallets. The workshop is right there. It’s not a clean, white office; it’s a place with scraps on the floor and tools on the benches. We spend a lot of time cutting and sewing. It’s physical work. Sometimes the weather is too humid, and the leather behaves differently, so we have to adjust. We don't have a big showroom. Most of our work is done for people who know us or for orders that go out of town. The family has been in this area for generations. We just keep the tradition going. It’s a quiet life mostly. We work during the daylight and close up when it gets dark. People walk past the open door and say hello. It’s a community. We don’t need much else besides our tools and good material to work with. There is a lot of pride in finishing a piece by hand. We just stay busy with our leather.
