Muskan Leather Exports

Over here at No. 8 Appa Pillai Street in Melvishram, things stay pretty busy. We are right in the heart of the Vellore District, which is known for this kind of work. Muskan Leather Exports is basically just a group of us working with leather every day. The smell of the hides is something you get used to after a few days. We handle the shipping and the packing right here in this building. It’s an old street, and the trucks sometimes have a hard time getting through the narrow parts to reach us. We’ve been at this address for years. Our neighbors are mostly other families and small shops, so everyone know each other. We don't have a big office with fancy chairs. It’s mostly work tables and racks for the leather. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the skins because that’s the most important part. If the leather isn't right, the whole job is a waste. Sometimes we work long hours when a big shipment is due to go out. It’s tough work on the hands, but it’s a living. We just keep our heads down and stay focused on the leather. If you ever find yourself on Appa Pillai Street, you’ll see us working away.
