Unique Leder Industries Pvt. Ltd. has roots in Kathiyawadi Melvisharam in Ranipet, but we also deal with things over in Borivali (east). It’s a bit of a spread-out operation, and we spend a lot of time coordinating between the different spots. Ranipet is where the real heavy work with the leather happens, and you can tell just by the way the air smells of tanning and raw hides. It’s a tough industry and the work is often dirty and loud, but it’s what we’ve always done. We have these big machines that have been around for years, and they take a lot of looking after to keep them running smooth. In the Borivali side of things, it’s a bit more about the logistics and making sure the leather gets where it needs to go. We don't have a corporate office with glass walls; it’s more about workshops and storage spaces that stay pretty dusty. The people who work here have been with us for a long time and they know the skins better than anyone. We just focus on the processing and the industrial side of leather, without any of the fluff you see in the big city shops. It’s a lot of long hours and physical labor, but there is a certain rhythm to the work that feels right. We just keep our heads down and try to produce something that’s solid and usable. It’s the way we’ve always operated and it seems to work out okay.
