Chennai Sandwich

If you are standing right opposite the main gate of VIT University, you’ll see our little spot, Chennai Sandwich. It’s always a bit hectic here because of all the students. They’re always in a hurry to get to class or coming out hungry after a long day of lectures. We spend most of our time behind the counter, making sandwiches as fast as we can. It’s not fancy food. It’s just bread, some fillings, and a lot of heat. We don't have a massive menu with complicated names. We just make what people like to eat. The shop is small, so it gets hot and crowded, especially during lunch hours. You can hear the noise from the university gates and the traffic passing by all the time. Sometimes we run out of a certain vegetable or the bread delivery is late, and we just have to tell the kids to wait a bit. We aren't some big food chain with uniforms and scripted greetings. We’re just here making sandwiches for whoever is hungry. It’s a lot of standing on our feet and dealing with the lunch rush. We’ve become a regular part of the student life around here. It’s simple, it’s busy, and it’s how we spend our days. We just keep the grill going and hope the power doesn't cut out when things get really crowded.
