R.P. Provision & General Store

I’ve been running R.P. Provision & General Store on Amra Khaera Road for a long time now. People in Varanasi know this place for just being a regular shop where you can grab what you need without a fuss. It’s not one of those fancy supermarkets with bright lights and music playing. It is just a small building filled with bags of rice, lentils, and the usual household soaps. The road outside is always busy and a bit loud with the traffic, so dust gets in the doorway sometimes. I spend most of my day sitting behind the old wooden counter talking to the neighbors who stop by. Most people come in on their way home to get a few things for dinner. I try to keep the basic staples in stock so nobody has to go elsewhere. The shelves are not always perfectly straight and things might be a bit crowded, but I know exactly where the biscuits and tea packets are kept. The shop has stayed the same for years, and we haven't seen much need to change it. It works for the folks living around Amra Khaera Road and it works for me too. There is always someone needing a matchbox or a bit of sugar at the last minute. We open up early and stay until the street gets quiet at night. It is a simple way to live, just keeping the shop going for the people around here.
