Repairing

Our shop is called Repairing and you can find us in the Maidagin area of Varanasi. It is a very small place, but we manage to fit a lot into it. The main workbench is usually covered in a jumble of screwdrivers, soldering irons, and bits of electronics that we are trying to bring back to life. In a city like Varanasi, people tend to hold onto their things, so they bring us all kinds of broken appliances and gadgets. We don't have a big sign or a fancy storefront. Most people know where we are just by word of mouth. It is a noisy, crowded neighborhood, and there is always something going on right outside our door. I have always liked taking things apart to see how they work, so this job suits me. Sometimes we can fix a thing in ten minutes, and other times we are scratching our heads for days trying to figure out what went wrong. We don't promise that everything can be saved, but we always give it a fair try. The tea guy from down the street comes by a few times a day, and that’s usually when we take a short break. It is a simple life of fixing things that are broken and helping out the people who live and work around Maidagin. We just keep our heads down and focus on the wires and circuits in front of us.
