Pakiza General Store

Pakiza General Store is right on Ansari Road, which is a pretty lively part of Varanasi Cantt. We stay open long hours because there is always someone needing something at the last minute. Being in 221002 means we see a mix of locals and people just passing through from the station. The shelves are a bit crowded, but we know where every single item is kept. From cooking oils to small batteries, we try to have the basics ready. It gets hot in the summer, so we keep the fan running and sometimes we just sit on the stool out front. We don’t do any big advertising; people just know we are here. Sometimes the stock doesn't arrive on time, and we have to explain that to the customers. Most people are patient though. We use a simple calculator for the bills and carry the bags to the door if someone has too many. The shop is our second home, really. We spend more time here than anywhere else. It’s a lot of small tasks, like counting change and stacking soaps, but it adds up to a full day. We are just a local family business trying to do things right and keep the pantry staples available for everyone around us.
