Lakshya Dance Academy

Lakshya Dance Academy is located right on Panchkoshi Road in the Shivpur area of Varanasi. We are quite near the Police Chocki, so it’s usually easy for parents to find us. The sound of music is usually coming from our windows during the afternoons when classes are on. It’s a lively place to be. We have students coming in from all over the neighborhood to learn their steps and practice. The floors are a bit worn from all the dancing over the years, but that’s a good sign for us. We don't have a fancy studio with professional lights and mirrors everywhere. It’s a practical space where people come to move and learn. Varanasi is a city of deep traditions, and we feel like we are a small part of that here in Shivpur. We’ve been teaching here for a long time. Some of our students started as young kids and are now grown up. It’s not a big corporate school with a board of directors. It’s just a place for the local community to come together. Sometimes the street outside is noisy with traffic and horns, but we just turn up the music and focus on the dance. We keep our schedules simple and easy to follow. It’s hard work, but seeing someone finally get a difficult rhythm right makes it worth it. We are usually here every evening when the sun starts to set.
