Janki Kids Academy

Janki Kids Academy is located in the Ashokpuram Colony in Dafi, which is a part of Varanasi that stays fairly busy. The academy is basically a set of rooms in Janki Kunj A3 where we keep all the stuff for the little ones. You will see a lot of bright drawings on the walls and small chairs scattered around. Since these are young children, the day is never really predictable. There is a lot of noise from the moment they arrive until the parents pick them up in the afternoon. We have a small area for them to play, though it gets a bit muddy when it rains. The colony itself is mostly residential, so we try to keep the noise down, but kids will be kids. We spend a lot of time just keeping things clean and making sure nobody falls down. It isn't a high-tech setup; we mostly use books, blocks, and physical toys. The staff here are mostly local people who know the neighborhood well. Dafi is a growing area, so we see new faces quite often. We don't have a fancy office, just a desk near the entrance where we talk to parents. Sometimes the water pump acts up, or we run out of supplies, and someone has to run out to the local market. It is just a regular, small-scale operation where we look after the neighborhood children and make sure they have a place to be during the day.
