Awaleshpur is where Imperial Spice Private Limited is based. Our address is Arazi No. 1035 Mauza which is part of the Pragana Dehat area of Varanasi. It is a bit out of the way if you are coming from the main ghats or the center of the city. You can smell the spices as soon as you get close to the door. Sometimes the chili gets in your throat and makes everyone sneeze but you get used to it after a week or two. The building is a sturdy one but nothing special to look at. We have bags and containers of different spices stacked up against the walls almost reaching the ceiling. It is a small team here and we all know each other’s families by now. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. We just write down what people want and try to get the bags filled and sealed correctly. The floors are always a bit stained from the turmeric and other powders. It is honest work and it keeps our hands busy all day long. Sometimes the rain makes the road to the warehouse a bit muddy so we have to be careful with the deliveries. We just stick to our routine and make sure the spices are sorted. It is a loud and colorful place to spend a working day in Varanasi.
