Curles &Frils

Curles &Frils is located right opposite the Pnai Tanki in the Bhelupura area of Varanasi. We picked this spot because everyone knows the water tank, so it makes us easy to find. The name has a bit of an unusual spelling, but we never got around to changing it. It is just a small, local parlour that caters to the people living around Bhelupura. Inside, we have two main chairs and a small bench for waiting. The walls are painted a simple blue, and we have a few mirrors that we try to keep clear of dust. Varanasi can be a very dusty city, so we are always wiping things down. We do haircuts, some basic styling, and threading. Most of our customers are women from the neighborhood who just want a quick service without any fuss. We don't have a fancy website or anything. If someone needs a haircut, they just walk in. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common here, so we keep some candles and a rechargeable light handy. We handle a lot of school kids too, especially right before the new term starts. It’s a busy, noisy little shop but it feels like home to us. We’ve known some of these families for years. We just focus on doing a solid job and keeping the prices fair for everyone who comes in. It is just a normal shop run by people who live nearby.
