Chandan Garments

Our shop is right in the middle of the Chawk area in Varanasi. Anyone who has been to Chawk knows it is one of the most crowded and lively parts of the city. We are situated there amongst all the other shops and the constant movement of people. It is a bit of a maze sometimes, but we like being where the action is. Inside Chandan Garments, it is mostly piles of clothes and racks that we try to keep organized, though it isn't always easy when things get busy. We usually start the day early, sweeping the floor and getting the first batch of clothes ready. We see all kinds of people coming through, from locals doing their regular shopping to visitors who got a bit lost in the lanes. We just show them what we have available at the moment. It is simple work, really. We don’t have a fancy showroom with bright lights, just a practical space where we can do our business. Sometimes the electricity goes out or it gets too hot, but that is just part of living and working in Varanasi. We’ve got a lot of items tucked away in corners, so you usually have to look around a bit to find exactly what you want. We just stay here, keep the shop running, and hope the day goes smoothly for everyone who comes by our door. It's a simple life for us here.
