Abdul Salam & Sons is our family business located at K- 55/57 in Rajapura Ausangunj. Varanasi is a city of narrow lanes and old buildings, and our shop is right in the heart of that. We have been here for generations, and the building itself has a lot of history. We primarily deal with trading and supplying local goods to the people in our community. It’s not a fancy setup with bright lights or glass displays. Instead, we have wooden shelves and a lot of stock piled up where we can reach it easily. People stop by throughout the day, sometimes just to say hello or share some news about the neighborhood. It feels very personal because we know almost everyone who walks through the door. My sons are involved in the business now, and they help with the heavy lifting and keeping track of what we need to reorder. The streets outside are always full of life, which can make it hard to get deliveries in, but we have a system that works for us. We don't use any complicated computer systems for our sales; we still prefer the old way of writing things down in our ledgers. It’s a simple life, and we don't feel the need to change much. We just want to keep the shop running like it always has, providing a service to the people of Rajapura Ausangunj.
