Northern India Engineering Works

Over at Plot No. 730 in the 40 Shed Area of Gidc, Vapi, you’ll find Northern India Engineering Works. This part of Vapi is nothing but rows of workshops and industrial sheds, and we’re right in the middle of all of it. The shed we work in is quite old, and the tin roof tends to rattle a bit when the wind gets strong. We have a lot of heavy metal tools and some very old lathes that still run perfectly after all these years. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. You won't find anyone wearing a suit or a tie around here. We’re usually in our blue overalls and have grease all over our hands by ten in the morning. The 40 Shed Area is a hardworking place where people value effort. We know the guys in the sheds on both sides of us, and we often borrow tools or help each other out when someone is stuck. At Northern India Engineering Works, we don’t have a fancy mission statement or a polished image. We just fix things and build what’s needed for the day. The concrete floor has some deep cracks, but it still holds up under the weight of the machines. We’ve been in Vapi for a long time and have seen the Gidc change quite a bit over the decades. But our little spot at Plot No. 730 stays pretty much the same.
