L. J, Engineering Works

If you come down to Gidc Umbergaon and look for Plot No. L-289/10, you will find us right near where Hariom Transport parks their big trucks. It is a noisy area with all the factories around, but L. J, Engineering Works fits right in. We have been in this shed for a while now, surrounded by lathes, welding machines, and a lot of scrap metal piled in the corners. The floor is always a bit oily, no matter how much we sweep it, but that is just part of the job. Most days, it is just the sound of grinding metal and the smell of sparks. We take on all sorts of repair work or making small parts that the bigger factories need in a hurry. It gets incredibly hot under the tin roof during the summer months, so we keep a big fan running that mostly just moves the warm air around. We do not have a front office or anything like that; if you need us, you just walk right into the workshop and shout over the noise. We deal with a lot of the truck drivers from next door who need something fixed on their rigs before they head back out on the highway. It is not glamorous work, and we usually go home with grease under our fingernails, but we know how to handle the machines. We have seen a lot of businesses come and go in this part of Umbergaon, but we just keep our heads down and finish the work on the table.
