Nilkanth Engineering

Our workshop is at Plot No. 2707/5 in the Iiird Phase of Gidc. Being in the third phase means we are surrounded by all sorts of different industries. We do general engineering work here, so there is always some machine being taken apart or put back together. The floor is usually covered in a bit of oil and metal shavings, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful about where we put everything. We have a few lathes and some old drills that have been with us since we started. They aren't new, but they still run fine if you know how to handle them. The street outside is narrow, so it's always a bit of a squeeze when deliveries come in. We get a lot of walk-in business from other shops in the estate needing a quick repair or a part fabricated. It’s a hands-on kind of life. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the machines inside and out. The lighting inside could be better, but we have some portable lamps for the detailed work. Most days are just spent over the workbench with a cup of tea nearby. It’s a simple engineering shop where we just fix what’s broken and try to keep things moving for our neighbors in the Gidc. We’ve been at this plot for quite some time now and it feels like home.
