Grindbeck

Grindbeck is our small setup in Umbergaon. We are located at J-255/1 within the G.I.D.C. area. It’s a typical industrial spot. There’s a lot of metal work happening here. We spend our days around grinders and lathes. The air smells like oil and cut steel. It’s a bit heavy, but you get used to it after a week or so. I’ve been working in this field since I left school. We aren’t a massive corporation with layers of management. It’s just us and our machines. We take on orders for various industrial parts. Some are simple, others require a bit more thinking. We don’t have a big sign out front, just the unit number. Most people find us through word of mouth in the estate. We don’t do a lot of advertising. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by midday. We sweep up and start again the next morning. It’s honest work. We make sure the dimensions are right because that’s what matters in this trade. If a part isn’t right, it’s useless. So we pay attention to the gauges. We have our lunch together in the small break room. It’s a quiet bunch of guys. We just want to do the job and head home to our families. Umbergaon is a busy place for industry, and we’re just one small part of it. We keep our overheads low and our focus on the machinery in front of us every day. It is just how things have always been here.
