Khodiyar Engineering Works

Khodiyar Engineering Works is located at plot 2816 in the 2nd Phase of Gidc. Like most engineering shops in this area, our place is filled with the smell of machine oil and the sound of metal being worked. The Gidc 2nd Phase is a large industrial zone, and finding plot 2816 is straightforward if you follow the main road. Our workshop is a large, open shed where we keep the lathes and the welding machines. The floor is concrete and has some oil stains from years of work, which is normal for a place like this. We don’t have an air-conditioned office or fancy chairs. Most of our time is spent on the floor, measuring parts and checking the machines. The sun heats up the tin roof in the summer, so we keep the big doors open to catch any breeze. We are a small crew of workers who have been doing this for a long time. We don’t use a lot of big words or have meetings. We just look at the drawings and get to work. Lunch is usually eaten sitting on some crates or near the workbench. It is a simple life of making things and fixing things. When a job is finished, we load it onto the trucks that come through the Gidc. The area is always loud with the sounds of other workshops nearby, and that’s just the environment we like. It's honest work at a practical address.
