Being out here in the village area means things move at a different pace than they do in the big cities. Saroj Ravi Computer is a small operation we started because computers are becoming so important even in places like Piprahi. We don't have a big sign or a glass front, just a room where we keep the machines and do our work. Sometimes the electricity is a bit finicky, so we have to plan our day around when the power is most stable. It’s a very local thing; most of the people who come by are neighbors or people from the next village over. We spend a lot of time teaching people how to use basic software or helping students with their online forms. It’s not glamorous, but it’s useful. On hot afternoons, it can get pretty stuffy inside, so we usually keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze. We know everyone around here, so work often involves a lot of chatting about the crops or the local news before we actually get down to the computer stuff. It’s a community-based way of working. We just want to make sure people in our block have access to what they need without traveling too far. We keep it simple.
