Suruchi Eye Hospital

Being up here on the first floor of Dhananjay Complex means we get a good view of everything happening at Uma Char Rasta. It is a very busy intersection in Waghodia and there is always someone honking their horn down there. If you are looking for us, we are right opposite the Indrapuri Atithi Gruh, which is a big landmark for people around here. The stairs up to the hospital are a bit steep, so we tell people to take their time. Inside, the floors are white tile and we spend a lot of time keeping them swept because of all the dust that blows in from the road. We have those big machines for checking eyes in the back rooms. They are heavy things and take up a lot of space. The waiting area usually has the local news playing on a small television, but most people just look at their phones while they wait for their names to be called. Our staff stays busy with the charts and making sure the eye drops are stocked up. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, but the generator kicks in after a minute or two. It is just a regular part of working in this part of town. We’ve seen a lot of people come through those doors over the years. It feels good to recognize faces from the neighborhood when they stop by for a checkup or new glasses.
