Our place is at Plot 384-385 in the GIDC Industrial Estate. It is a big area and sometimes people get lost trying to find the right turn because all the units start to look the same after a while. We have been here for a good while now. The building is just a standard industrial unit, nothing that stands out. Inside, it’s mostly benches with soldering irons, wires, and various components spread out. Electronics can be finicky, so there is a lot of quiet concentration happening. It’s not like the heavy workshops nearby where you hear constant banging and metal clanging. Here, it’s more about small movements and checking things over and over. The lighting has to be bright so we can see what we are doing with those tiny parts. We get a lot of dust from the road, so we try to keep the doors closed, but it still finds its way in. Lunchtime is usually when everyone relaxes and we talk about whatever is on the news. The estate is always moving, trucks coming and going, but inside our walls, we just focus on the boards and the power supplies. It isn’t a glamorous job, but it is what we know. We have our routines and our favorite tea spots nearby. Some days are long when a batch of work needs finishing, but we just get on with it. It’s just a regular workplace where we show up and do our bit without any fuss.
