Waghodia Road gets pretty busy most days, but our spot at Lamington Road B 2 stays fairly steady. Maa Kaleshwar Upasak Jyotish is just a regular room where we sit and talk to people about their horoscopes. You can hear the motorcycles and cars passing by outside, but we just focus on the birth details people bring in. It is mostly local people from the neighborhood who stop by. They might be looking for a good day to start a new business or wondering why things have been a bit difficult at home lately. We don't have any big advertisements or anything. Most people heard about us from a cousin or a friend who came here before. The table is covered with a simple cloth and there are piles of charts everywhere. Sometimes I lose my favorite pen under all the papers, which is a bit of a nuisance. We try to keep things straightforward. If someone asks a question, we look at the planetary positions and give them an answer based on the old ways. There is no secret to it, just a lot of practice and looking at the same types of charts for years. The light in the room isn't the brightest, so we usually have a small lamp on the desk even during the day. It makes the place feel a bit more comfortable for the folks who come to sit with us.
