S. R. Tourism is tucked away in Krishna Sheri, inside Karodia Pole just off M G Road. It’s an old part of town, and our office fits right in. The streets are narrow and you have to know where you’re going to find us. Inside, we have maps on the walls and stacks of brochures that are a bit dog-eared from people flipping through them. It’s a small room with a couple of desks and some chairs for folks to sit on while we talk about their trips. M G Road is always noisy, but once you step into the pole, it gets a little quieter. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at train and bus schedules. It’s not a high-tech travel agency with giant screens. We still use a lot of notebooks to jot down details. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we just have to wait it out. People from the neighborhood often stop by just to say hello or ask a quick question about a ticket. We’ve been at this Krishna Sheri spot for years. It’s familiar and comfortable. We don't have a fancy uniform. We just sit here and help people figure out how to get from one place to another. It’s a simple life. The fan hums overhead and we keep track of the bookings as they come in. It’s just us doing our thing in a quiet corner of the city.
