Kaloor Fruit Centre

You can find Kaloor Fruit Centre up on the first floor of the MITCON Udyog Prabodhini building, right inside the Agriculture College Campus in Falod. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a fruit shop, being on the first floor and all, but we’ve made it work for us. Every morning we have to bring the crates up, which is a bit of a workout for the legs since there's no elevator nearby. We get a lot of students and staff from the college coming in for a quick snack between their classes. The space is filled with the smell of whatever is in season, like mangoes or oranges. We try to keep everything sorted so the older fruit gets sold first and nothing goes to waste. It’s a small operation, really. We spend most of our time sorting through the deliveries to make sure nothing got bruised in the crates. The building itself is quite busy with all the different offices and classrooms around us. Sometimes it gets a little noisy in the hallways, but we just stick to our corner and keep working. We usually have a small radio playing in the background to keep things from being too quiet. We don’t really do any fancy packaging. Most people just bring their own bags or we give them a simple one. We’ve been here long enough that most people on campus know where to go when they want something fresh. It’s just a simple stall where we sell what we have and go home.
