Kalajyot Dance Academy

The academy is on Gotri Road, specifically in the Pancholi Falia area. It can be a little tricky to find if you aren't from around here, as the lanes are a bit narrow. We use a hall that stays fairly cool even in the summer months, which is a blessing. There are a few mirrors that we put up ourselves, though one of them has a small crack in the corner. It doesn't really get in the way of the dancing. I usually get here a bit early to unlock the gates and get the music player ready. Most of our students are from the nearby houses, so they just walk over in their practice clothes. We don't have a receptionist or anything. I just handle everything myself, from the teaching to the cleaning. Sometimes the music player acts up and I have to fiddle with the wires to get it going. The floor gets a bit slippery when it rains, so we have to be careful then. It's a very local kind of place. We don't do much besides teach the routines and help people get the steps down. Everyone knows everyone else, so it's a friendly atmosphere. After class, we usually spend a few minutes just chatting before everyone heads home for dinner. It's a lot of work running things on Gotri Road, but the days go by quickly when you're busy with the students. We just keep at it every single evening.
