Our office is located at 21, Vohra Colony, near Mahavir Hall on Ajwa Road in Baroda. It is a straightforward location in a part of the city that is easy for most of our staff to get to. We have been in this spot for a while, and the neighbors in the colony all know us by now. Jacobs Engineering India Pvt. Ltd operates in a way that is very low-key. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone trying to sell anything; we just have engineers who spend their time working on blueprints and technical data. The office is set up with basic furniture and we keep things fairly tidy, although the stacks of drawings can get a bit high during a big project. Ajwa Road is a main artery in Baroda, so there is no shortage of places to go if we need supplies or a quick lunch. Inside the office, the atmosphere is usually quiet because people are concentrating on their computer screens. We use simple English to communicate and we don't bother with corporate jargon that nobody understands anyway. If there is a problem with a design, we sit down and talk it through until it is fixed. It is a very hands-on way of working that suits the small team we have here. We just show up every day, do the work that is expected of us, and head home when the job is done.
