Sunil Parmar runs the show here at Gujarat Dyestuff Industries. We are located at number 19 in LG Nagar, which is right near the Deluxe Char Rasta in Nizampura. If you are in Baroda, you know how busy that intersection can get. Our place isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. There are bags of pigments and barrels of dyes everywhere. Since we deal with colors, sometimes the floor gets stained with different shades of blue or red. It’s a messy job but someone has to do it. We have a small desk where we take orders and talk to customers who drop by. Most of our clients have been coming to us for years. We don't do much advertising. People just know where we are. The air usually smells a bit like chemicals, which is something you get used to after the first week. We spend a lot of time weighing out powders and sealing up bags for transport. It’s a simple setup. We have a small ceiling fan that hums all day and a calendar on the wall that's a few years old. We just focus on making sure the batches are right and that the orders go out to the textile shops on time. It is a typical small business in Gujarat where the work is consistent and the people are practical about what they do every day.
