Girdhar Medical & Provision Store

This shop is sitting right at Rashtrabhushan Chowk on Shivaji Road 21 in the Maneja area. We have a bit of everything here because we do both medicine and general provisions. On one side you have the glass cases filled with strips of tablets and cough syrups. On the other side there are bags of rice, lentils, and soaps. It stays pretty busy because people in Maneja need their daily supplies and their prescriptions filled. We stay open late into the evening because that is when most people finish work and stop by. The shelves are packed tight and sometimes it takes us a minute to find the exact brand of biscuits or the specific cream someone is asking for. Shivaji Road can be quite chaotic with the bikes and the pedestrians all moving through the chowk. We have a small fridge for the cold drinks and milk packets. The bells on the door ring every few minutes when someone walks in. We know a lot of the families around here by name. We see the kids growing up and coming in to buy sweets after school. It’s a neighborhood spot where we just try to keep the shelves stocked with what people need. Number 21 is easy to spot with the blue shutters. We usually have a few people standing outside just chatting while they wait for their orders to be packed up in brown paper bags.
