Baroda Hardware Centre

You can find us over at 5 Alkapuri, in the Nirnay Nagar area inside Bhagvan Chamber. We are quite close to Laxmi Hall, which makes it easier for people to find us since everyone knows that landmark. Baroda Hardware Centre has been around for some time now, and we have seen a lot of changes in this part of town. Our space is filled with all sorts of metal bits, tools, and things you would expect in a hardware shop. It is not the most organized place in the world, but we know where most things are kept on the shelves. We get a mix of people coming in, from builders who know exactly what they want to homeowners who are a bit confused about which size nail they need for a picture frame. We try to help out where we can without making a big deal of it. The Bhagvan Chamber is a busy building, so there is always something going on around us. Being near Laxmi Hall means there is always a bit of a crowd nearby. We open up early and stay until the evening. The dust from the street and the metal sometimes settles on everything, so we are always wiping things down. It is a plain way to make a living, but it keeps us busy and we like the people who stop by to chat while they look for a specific hinge or a screwdriver. There is no air conditioning here, just a ceiling fan that hums all day while we sort through the nuts and bolts.
