Aai Shree Khodiyar Kirana Store

This shop sits right on the road leading to the Cancer Hospital in Kaliyapura. It’s a bit of a heavy area because of the hospital, so we see a lot of different people coming through every single day. Aai Shree Khodiyar Kirana Store is mostly about the basics that people need when they are staying nearby or just passing through. We have the usual stuff like lentils, rice, and different kinds of oils. The shelves are quite high and sometimes it’s hard to reach the top ones without the little wooden stool we keep behind the counter. It gets quite dusty being so close to the main road with all the ambulances and rickshaws going by constantly. We try to keep things organized, but when a big delivery comes in, there are sacks of flour everywhere for a few hours. The smell of spices is pretty strong here, especially when the weather is humid. We don’t really do any big advertising or anything. People just know we are here. Usually, it’s quiet in the mid-afternoon, so that’s when we check the stock and see what’s running low. Some regular customers stop by just to say hello or ask about the weather while they pick up their tea leaves. It’s a simple life running a kirana store in this neighborhood. We just focus on keeping the doors open and having enough stock for whoever walks in. It’s not much, but it keeps us going every day.
