Sysyem Computer Service

The shop is right here in Kalapipal. Most days start around ten when the shutters go up. Sysyem Computer Service isn't a fancy place with bright lights or glass walls. It’s mostly just me and a couple of workbenches covered in screws and tiny parts. People bring in laptops that won’t turn on or keyboards where the keys have popped off because a kid got a hold of them. Kalapipal gets a bit dusty, so cleaning out fans is a big part of what happens here. You can hear the hum of the old ceiling fan while we work on software updates that take forever. Sometimes the internet is slow and we just have to wait it out with a cup of tea from the stall nearby. It’s not like those big service centers in the city. We know the people who come in. They tell us about their kids' schoolwork or how they need their computer back fast for a job. We just try to get things running again so they can go home. There is usually a pile of old monitors in the corner and a tangled mess of cables that I keep meaning to organize. It’s a lot of sitting and looking at small screens, but it’s what we do here every day from morning until the sun goes down and we lock up the gate.
