Balaji Engineering Works

Our shop is situated at Kanasiya Naka, right on the Agra-Mumbai Road. Since we are on a main highway, we get a lot of travelers passing through and locals coming in with things that need welding or fixing. It’s a dusty spot because of all the trucks driving by, but it keeps us busy. We’ve been at this location for a good chunk of time. The building is just a simple shed, really. We have our welding sets, a few drills, and a bunch of scrap metal out back. We don't have a fancy office; we usually just talk to customers out on the dirt patch in front. My cousin and I run the place. We learned most of this from our father. We don't use any fancy computer programs to design things. We just use a chalk and the floor to mark things out. It’s how we’ve always done it. Sometimes the rain comes down hard and we have to move everything inside, which is a bit of a squeeze. We don't have a marketing team or a sales guy. If someone needs something built or repaired, they just pull over and talk to us. We’re usually there from sunrise until it gets dark. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We mostly deal with iron and steel, and our hands are usually black with soot by noon. That's just the way it is.
