Himani Dal Mills

We are located at number 70 in Subhash Ganj. This is the heart of the grain trading area, so it’s always busy with tractors and trucks. The mill has been running for years. It’s an old building with high ceilings and a lot of history in the walls. We process different types of dal here. The noise of the machinery is constant from morning until evening. It’s a dusty environment, and we all go home at the end of the day covered in a fine layer of flour and husk. My family has been in this trade for a long time. We know the farmers who bring their harvest here and we talk about the crops. We don't use any fancy marketing. People come to us because we’ve been here at the same spot in Subhash Ganj forever. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend the whole night fixing them so we don't fall behind on the orders. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving heavy bags and checking the quality of the grains by hand. We have a small cabin in the front where we keep the records and meet with people who stop by. It’s not very modern, but it gets the job done for us. We just focus on keeping the mill running and making sure the stock moves out on time each week. It's a simple, hardworking life in the middle of the market.
