Food Production & Processing

P Prabhakar Maiya operates out of the Chanakya Shankar Shet Towers on the Main Road in Kundapur. It’s a pretty central spot in the Udupi district. Being on the main road means there is always something going on outside. The building is one of the more recognizable ones in the area. I spend most of my time here at the desk. Kundapur is a place where people know each other, so a lot of folks just stop by because they were passing through anyway. The office isn't very large. It’s packed with books and papers that have built up over the years. I don’t really go for the modern look. It’s more about having everything where I can find it. The heat in Udupi can be tough, so the fan is always on high. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just wait it out. It’s a straightforward way of working. I’ve been in this tower for quite some time now. I see the same faces every day, both in the building and on the street. It’s a good community. The main road can get noisy with buses and trucks, but I don’t mind it much anymore. It’s just the sound of the town moving. We don't do anything flashy here. It’s just regular work day after day. People know where to find me if they need something. The tower is easy to spot and has been here for years.
