Vidhya Marbles

You can find Vidhya Marbles right on N.H. 8 near the Sukher post. Being on the highway means we see a lot of people passing by all the time. This area is known for stone, so there are many of us around here doing similar work. We keep a variety of marble stacked up in our space. It’s a lot of manual labor, shifting pieces so that a customer can see the grain or the color properly. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. We just sell marble. Some days are very slow, and we just spend time cleaning up the yard or re-arranging the slabs to make more room for new arrivals. Other days, we have several trucks coming in and it gets quite hectic trying to manage the space. The dust from the highway mixes with the dust from the stone, so everything needs a good wipe down quite often. We talk to the truck drivers, the local builders, and the families who are trying to pick something for their new house. We show them what’s in the back and what’s out front. There isn’t much to it beyond that. We’ve been at this spot in the district for a while and we know the routine well. The sun can be quite harsh out here on the main road, but the work has to get done. We just open up the gates and wait to see who comes in today.
