Ashoka Marbles

We are located over on Sukher Bedla Road in Rajasthan. The exact spot is G-I-122, right near the Sukher Palace Hotel. It’s about a three-hour drive from Ahmedabad if the traffic isn't too bad. Dealing with marble is heavy work. We spend most of our time out in the yard moving slabs around. It’s noisy because of the cutting machines but you get used to it after a few years. People come from all over the area to look at the stones we have on hand. We keep the different blocks arranged by size and where they came from. It isn't a very tidy place, there's always stone dust on our boots and the floor. My father started this and now I spend my days here too. We have a small desk inside where we do the paperwork and drink water. Sometimes the heat makes the work slow down in the summer. We don't do much advertising, mostly people just see the sign when they drive past the hotel. If someone needs a piece for a floor or a counter, they just walk in and ask. We show them what we’ve got available in the shed. The machines need a lot of maintenance to keep running. Every day is pretty much the same routine of loading trucks and cutting down the bigger pieces to size. It keeps us busy enough and we just try to keep things moving along smoothly.
