Universal Granites & Marbles

Our shop is at Plot No. 7 on Ajanta Hotel Street. Being outside Hathi Pole is a bit different from being right in the center of everything. The street gets very crowded with people going to the Ajanta Hotel and other shops. We have Universal Granites & Marbles right there at Plot No. 7. It is mostly just slabs of marble and granite stacked up on top of each other. You can hear the city noise all day long. We start early in the morning before the traffic gets too bad. Sometimes we talk to the people walking by on the street. It is a lot of heavy lifting. My hands are usually dusty by noon. We do not have a big corporate team, just a few of us here. We move the stones around with the old equipment we have out back. The granite is heavy and cold to touch in the mornings. We know the neighbors around Ajanta Hotel Street pretty well by now. When someone wants a piece of stone, we just walk them through the stacks and let them see what we have on hand. There is not any big sales pitch. You either like the pattern in the stone or you do not. That is just how it is. It can get loud when the cutters are running, but that is part of the job. We try to keep things organized, but in a stone yard, there is always a bit of a mess.
